Delivering seasonal staffing

Adapting to changing demand

How can seasonal businesses work with a recruitment partner to manage staffing throughout the year?

The challenge

A smokeless coal, fire log and fire wood manufacturer and supplier working across the UK to provide innovative and quality fuels to heat people’s homes were seeking a way to match its recruitment approach to the seasonal nature of its business.

Whilst the seasons for product demand was identifiable the peak and troughs fluctuated annually and was impacted by external factors including the ever-reliable British weather. The company needed to have the ability at to mobilise temporary workers without delay and respond when the demand for heat products peaked. They had previously used a mix of agencies and internal recruitment but had found it challenges to respond to the fluctuations and experienced ongoing labour shortage.

The solution

The company wanted to mobilise seasonal temporary workers daily to support an uptake in demand for fuel. Our recruitment experts recognised that the recruitment market had been exhausted for some of the roles, so set about find untapped talent pools.

The results

Jiggle successfully supported them to identify previously untapped geographical areas to recruit from and agreed rates that met with their budget but that meant they were appealing to individuals working on ‘temp contracts’ to adapt to changing demand.
